COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Three Branch County high school football teams will be trying to stay undefeated this evening.
Parma Western (1-1 Interstate 8, 2-1 overall) at Coldwater (2-0 Interstate 8, 3-0 overall)
After coming from behind for a thrilling victory last week against Pennfield, the Coldwater Cardinals host Parma Western tonight at Cardinal Field. Coldwater is tied for first place in the Interstate 8 with Harper Creek. The Cardinals have won all ten previous meetings with the Panthers.
Game time is 7:00pm. Coverage on AM-1590 WTVB starts at 6:30 p.m.
Union City (2-0 BIg 8, 3-0 overall) at Quincy (2-0 Big 8, 3-0 overall)
Branch County rivals Union City and Quincy meet on the Orioles home field tonight with the winner keeping a least a share of the Big 8 Conference lead. This is the 68th meeting between the two schools on the football field. The Chargers own a 41-25-1 edge in the series.
JV Football— Quincy 22, Union City 12
Quincy’s Chandler Locke rushed for 143 yards and scored two touchdowns. Union City’s Calvin Glant rushed for 145 yards and a TD.
Springport (0-2 Big 8, 1-2 overall) at Bronson (0-2 Big 8, 0-3 overall)
The Bronson Vikings will be trying to win their first game of the season tonight when they host Springport in the first ever meeting between the two schools.

Both of the Legg Middle School football teams lost at Harper Creek Wednesday. In the 7th grade game, the Cards fell 32-26. Cameron Torres scored 2 touchdowns, while Elijah Sloan and Hunter Munson added one each. Chase Sunderland scored a two point conversion.
The 8th grade squad lost 26-0. Lukas Kelley had six carries for 30 yards to lead the offensive effort. Cole Barker had 17 tackles on defense and Zach Diotte tallied 12.
Both teams play their first home game of the season at Cardinal Field on Wednesday, September 20 against Marshall. The 7th grade kicks off at 4:30 p.m., while 8th grade starts around 6:00 p.m.
