COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater Township Sunrise Rotary and Coldwater Noon Rotary are two of the 35,000 clubs that are part of Rotary International and “Making a Difference” is Rotary’s theme for this year.
The new local Governor for Michigan District 6360, which includes Branch County, was the guest speaker yesterday in Coldwater at the Sunrise Rotary meeting. Teresa Brandell explained that the Rotary International President’s chosen theme was tied to his challenge issued July 1, 2017 for every Rotarian worldwide to plant a tree before Earth Day in April 2018.
According to Brandell, those trees could be in Coldwater or somewhere around the world, wherever a Sunrise or Noon club member would like to arrange that or do it themselves. Brandell said with 1.2 million Rotarians worldwide, that would make a huge difference.
Brandell is a member of the Delta-Waverly Rotary Club just west of Lansing. The City of Coldwater is a Tree City USA Community as designated 12 years ago by the Arbor Day Foundation.
