LAGRANGE, IN (WTVB) – A tanker truck from the Bronson Fire Department had to be called in late Tuesday afternoon as a massive fire destroyed two businesses in downtown LaGrange, Indiana.
Two Bronson Fire Department members were attending Tuesday’s Michigan Department of Transportation presentation of next summer’s major construction project on U.S. 12 between Bronson and Coldwater at the Henry M. Brown Municipal Building when they got the call at about 5:00 p.m. and had to abruptly leave.
WNDU-TV in South Bend reports the fire put such a strain on LaGrange’s water supply that firefighters had to use water from a nearby farmer’s irrigation system and from the Indiana Toll Road.
Bronson Tanker #4 was sent to LaGrange to deliver water to the fire.
Bronson was among numerous fire departments from nearby townships and counties who had to be called in to put out the flames.
No injuries were reported. The fire destroyed a Family Dollar store, as well as a sporting goods store. The cause is not known.
