COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council approved a professional services agreement Monday night with Fishbeck, Thompson, Carr and Huber to prepare bid documents for the removal of the Old U.S. 12 Bridge over the Coldwater River.
The agreement is not to exceed $16,000.
The same firm inspected the bridge last month and found it was unsafe. The work by FTCH will also cover details to provide a temporary and permanent support alternative in order to keep a 12 inch water main in place and in service.
In other business, the City Council voted to place a $1,000 offer from Branch County Habitat for Humanity to purchase the property at 124 Marshall on the table for 30 days under terms of the City Charter.
Habitat plans to build a new single family residence at that location. A residential structure on the property was demolished late last year. Final action by the Council is scheduled for October 23, 2017.
