BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Winds gusting up to 40 miles an hour on Friday knocked out power to over 900 Consumers Energy customers in Branch County.
Most of the outages were in the area of the Branch County Memorial Airport.
Only 23 Branch County customers were still without power as of 5:00 a.m. Saturday morning.
Calhoun County was hard hit by power outages with over 10,000 customers losing their power on Friday. Most of the outages were north of the I-94/I-69 interchange.
As of 5:00 a.m. on Saturday, there were over 21,000 Consumers Energy customers system wide who were without power. They included over 5,200 Calhoun County customers while just a handful of outages were reported in St. Joseph, Branch and Hillsdale Counties.
Over 200 Consumers Energy and contractor crews worked through the night into Saturday after a storm with 55 mph wind gusts affected 71,000 homes and businesses across the state.
