COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners formally adopted a ORV ordinance on Tuesday following a public hearing which drew a standing room only audience.
The Commissioners approved a draft ORV ordinance on February 6 and moved forward with the next step in the process which was the scheduling of the public hearing.
There has been much discussion about the ordinance since John Massey of Coldwater first proposed it to Commissioners last October.
Most of those who spoke were in favor of the ordinance but local zoning administrator Matt Ashenfelter raised several concerns.
Commissioner Jon Houtz moved that the ordinance be effective immediately.
Commission Chair Tim Stoll addressed concerns raised by Ashenfelter.
Golf carts are not a part of the proposed ordinance.
Commissioners have made no significant changes to the ordinance which was drafted by County Prosecutor Zach Stempien.
