BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The Bronson, Union City and Quincy track and field teams were all in Big 8 Conference action on Wednesday.
Quincy split with Concord as the Yellow Jackets won the boys meet 77 1/2 to 58 1/2 thanks to a sweep in the relays while the Orioles won the girls meet 75 to 61.
Quincy winners in the boys meet were Noah Pearson in the 400, Max Stetler in the 3200, Clayton Benson in the 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles, Ethan Pearson in the shot put and Corey Turner in the pole vault.
Finishing first for Quincy in the girls meet were Brookelyn Parker in the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles, Kyha Brewer in the shot put, Lita Fulton in the pole vault and Abby Tinervia in the long jump. The team of Elizabeth Craig, Fulton, Parker and Kendyl Musielewicz won the 1600 relay while Raylee Fulton, Charlotte Crabbs, Musielewicz and Katharina Paschke won the 3200 relay.
Bronson swept Maple Valley by scores of 87 to 41 in the boys meet and 77 to 44 in the girls meet.
Winners for the Vikings in the boys meet were Boston Bucklin in the 400 and the high jump, Tyler Wilber in the 800, Jack Ganton in the 1600 and the 3200, Brier Green in the 110 hurdles, Stevie Wilson in the 300 hurdles and Jace Hoard in the shot put. Bronson won all four relay races.
Bronson got first place finishes in the girls meet from Itzel Albarran in the 100 and 200, Miriam Sanchez in the 400 and 800, Jaiden Hayes in the 100 hurdles, the 300 hurdles and the long jump along with Skylar Smith in the shot put, discus and high jump. Bronson won the 400 and 800 relays.
Both of the Union City teams got a pair of wins on Wednesday. The boys defeated Reading 88 to 31 and Springport 71 to 57. The Chargers girls knocked off Reading 92 to 42 and Springport 92 to 44.
Charger winners for the boys were Ben Gautsche in the 400, Malachi Payne in the 1600, Jason Shoop in the 3200, Nathaniel Maurer in the 300 hurdles, Logan Cole in the shot put and discus and Rick Austin in the long jump. Union City won the 3200 relay.
Union City winners in the girls meet were Alissa Skirka in the 800, Skyler Fraley in the 1600, Allison Gautsche in the 3200, Nevada Gillons in the 100 hurdles, the 300 hurdles and the long jump and Keira Taylor in the pole vault. Union City won the 400, 1600 and 3200 relays.
