COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In high school boys soccer, Coldwater used balanced scoring and solid defense to shutout Gull Lake 4-0 Tuesday. Tyler Kooi, Jacob Knaack, Ahmed Mohsen, and Nasser Nagi each scored in the Cardinals home opener.
Jonathan Brownell had two assists and Saleh Mohamed had one as Coldwater improved to 6-1 on the season. Balal Nasser made 3 saves in goal, as the Cardinals outshot Gull Lake 15-3.
Coldwater will open Interstate 8 Conference play Thursday at Marshall in the first Bird Bowl, with the JV team playing at 4:00 p.m, the varsity at 5:30 p.m., and the varsity football team at 7:30 p.m.
The Coldwater JV team beat Gull Lake 2-0 Tuesday.
Quincy tied Calhoun Christian 5-5 in boys soccer Tuesday. Alex Pickell scored two goals for the Orioles, with single goals for Alex Aseltine, Axel Beltran, and Luke Hollenbaugh.
