BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – You might say Wednesday is Opening Day for the Branch County Road Commission.
The first of eight 2024 paving projects are scheduled to start on Wednesday.
Crews will wait until after 8:00 a.m. to begin work on Central Road between South Angola and Block Road. The work is scheduled to last for two days and portions of Central Road will be shut down during the work.
Drivers may want to consider taking an alternate route.
Other paving projects this year include North Marshall Road from State to Jonesville, Fisher from Cornell to the bridge, Cornell from Fremont to Fisher, Girard from Babcock to Dunk and Creamery from Union City to Railroad.
Portions of Maple, Wildwood and Stringtown Roads are also scheduled for paving work.
As part of a contract with DTE and its Sauk Solar project, almost four miles of Burlington and Hayner Roads will be paved.
There are 16 locations that are scheduled for sealcoating this year. The largest stretch will be nearly four miles of Barnhart Road between River and Snow Prairie Roads.
