COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Life Care Ambulance Vice-President Steve Frisbie told Branch County Commissioners during their work session on Thursday they are on the cusp of meeting contract standards for response times.
But just like other businesses these days, there is still an issue with having enough employees.
Due to a lack of staffing during COVID-19, LifeCare wasn’t able to meet its response time standards in recent years which promises an ambulance will arrive within 12 minutes of being dispatched at least 80 percent of the time.
The Commissioners approved giving $150,000 in American Rescue Plan Act funds to the Kellogg Community College EMS training program in October of 2022. The program was designed to guarantee additional EMS workers would be assigned to Branch County and is part of a partnership with Kellogg Community College and Life Care Ambulance.
