COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Organizers of the 36th Coldwater Car Show and Swap Meet had to settle for a split with Mother Nature this weekend.
The event is held rain or shine every Mother’s Day weekend at the Branch County Fairgrounds.
In some recent years, it’s been more rain or dreary conditions than shine.
The weather did not cooperate on Saturday with cloudy skies, temperatures in the 50s and windy conditions which dropped wind chills into the mid 40s.
There was an unofficial car count of 650 on Saturday which was down from just over 1,000 cars in 2023 and about 900 cars in 2022.
Many of the vehicles took part in the annual Cruise through the streets of Coldwater on Saturday afternoon.
Things greatly improved on Sunday with sunny skies and temperatures in the low 70s.
No attendance figures for the weekend were available. Proceeds from the weekend will be donated to local non-profits and charities.
The Swap Meet and Car Show was reorganized into a non-profit organization in 2010.
