David M. King, 76, of Litchfield, passed away Monday, May 13, 2024, at Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo. He was born July 27, 1947, in Coldwater to Glenn and Alice (Hoff) King. He married Sandy Frick, and she survives.
David graduated from Coldwater High School and went on to attend Michigan Tech University. He ended up leaving college to enlist in the US Army, proudly serving in Vietnam as a medic. He was formerly employed at Conagra (formerly Eckrich) in several capacities.
David had many hobbies and talents. He had a passion for music and was skilled at playing the guitar, banjo, and mandolin. He was also a gifted woodworker, making many pieces of furniture throughout his life. He enjoyed gardening, cooking, dog sledding, and participating in HAM radio groups. He was an avid participant in Civil War reenactments, and even had a fascination with astronomy, teaching several classes over the years.
Surviving besides his wife of 25 years, Sandy is one daughter, Cathy King; step-sons, Scott (Christine) Boyer and Jason Boyer; grandchildren, Samantha and Emily Vrablic, Madison, Dalton, Lexi, Lauren, Alex, and Jordan Boyer; and siblings, James (Cindy) King, Peggy (Jim) Voss and Susie (Larry) Layden.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister in infancy.
A visitation for David King will be held Sunday, May 19, 2024, from 2-5 PM at the Eagle Funeral Home-George White Chapel in Litchfield. Graveside services with military honors will be held Monday, May 20, 2024, at 2:00 PM set Mt. Hope Cemetery in Litchfield with John Wykes leading the service, followed by a brief time of open sharing.
