COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater split a non-conference doubleheader against Hanover-Horton at Lowe Field, taking the opener 4-3 before dropping the nightcap 5-4.
In the first game, the Comets scored all of their runs in the first. The Cardinals rallied with a run in the fourth and two in the sixth to tie the game. Colten Calhoun’s one-out RBI single in the seventh brought home Brady Massey for the game-winner. Calhoun, Massey, and Owen Tappenden had two hits apiece.
The second game saw Coldwater attempt to come back from a 5-2 sixth inning deficit; they could only manage single runs in the final two innings. Massey and Drake Thornton hit doubles, while Tappenden and Rylan Edwards each had two hits.
The Cardinals will take a 14-18 record to their Interstate 8 finale next Thursday against Harper Creek.
