BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Consumers Energy says about 400 customers south of Coldwater lost electricity at around 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday morning.
The cause of the outage was not immediately known but there has been speculation on social media platforms the windy conditions were a factor.
The Branch County Memorial Airport measured wind gusts as high as 26 miles an hour before the power outage. Wind gusts as high as 32 mph were recorded just after 11:00 a.m..
The outage is affecting an area roughly from Garfield Road south to East Central Road and between North Fiske and North Behnke Roads.
AM 1590 and FM 95.5 WTVB was affected by the outage but stayed on the air thanks to an emergency generator.
Power was restored during the noon hour.
