COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A medical marijuana cardholder in Coldwater has been arrested on charges of selling pot from her home on Western Avenue, which was supposedly a medical marijuana caregiver location.
45-year old Peggy Lynn Nameth surrendered to Coldwater City Police last week when she was booked at the Branch County Jail August 17. Nameth, who lives on Western Avenue, is facing preliminary charges of delivery, possession, and manufacture of marijuana.
Coldwater City Police say her arrest stemmed from a traffic stop in May during which the driver, who was in possession of marijuana, later admitted to buying it several times from Nameth. An investigation resulted in a warrant being requested and issued for Nameth’s arrest and a quantity of marijuana was confiscated from her home.
Police say Nameth confessed to selling the marijuana and officers reported finding no indication in the woman’s home that she was a caregiver, which would have allowed her to possess enough marijuana to treat up to 5 patients.
Nameth is free on bail after posting a bond of $10,000, ten percent allowed. Her Branch County District Court arraignment is scheduled for September 8, 2017.
