BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Branch County residents will have many chances to honor military members who gave their lives for their country on Memorial Day this Monday.
Coldwater’s Memorial Day events will begin with a ceremony at the Downtown Four Corners Park at 8:30 a.m.. It will be followed by a parade from the Four Corners Park to the Coldwater American Legion Post 52.
Following a ceremony for servicemen lost at sea and a service in the north section of Oak Grove Cemetery, “A Gathering of Flags War Memorial Ceremony” at the south side of Oak Grove Cemetery is scheduled to start at 10:30 a.m..
The Coldwater American Legion Post 52 will host a Memorial Day Luncheon at 11:30 a.m..
The Bronson American Legion Alderman-Luce Post 259 will hold a Memorial Day ceremony at 10:00 a.m. at the Bronson City Cemetery.
Sherwood will hold a Memorial Day Parade on Monday starting at 9:00 a.m.. It is expected to last 15 minutes. It will start on Main Street south of Division and travel up to the Cemetery where a service will take place.
The Village of Union City and the American Legion Post 196 will host the annual Union City Memorial Day Parade and Cemetery Service on Monday. The parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. sharp at the Union City High School parking lot. It will pause at the North Broadway Street bridge for a ceremony to honor the Navy and Coast Guard and to lay a wreath at Veterans Memorial Park. The parade will also pause for a wreath placement at the First Congregational Church’s Civil War Memorial.
The parade will go through downtown Union City and head north to Riverside Cemetery for a service. In addition, the Union City Fire Department and Auxiliary will hold a Pancake and Sausage Breakfast at the Fire Hall from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.. Veterans can eat for free.
The Quincy American Legion will host their annual parade on Monday morning. The parade starts from the Legion at 11:00 a.m.. Participants are asked to line up at 10:30 a.m.. The parade will travel on U.S. 12 to West Street before heading to the Lakeview Cemetery for a ceremony.
