COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Cardinals girls softball team closed out the Interstate 8 portion of their season on Thursday at the Rotary Softball Complex by losing both ends of a doubleheader to Harper Creek.
The Beavers defeated the Cardinals by scores of 6-0 and 4-1.
Coldwater was held to three hits in the first game. Mya Porter struck out nine batters in six plus innings of work.
The Cardinals outhit the Beavers in the second game 11-8 but stranded 11 runners on base including seven in scoring position.
Maren DeBeau had three hits in the second game while Coley Burkhardt, T.K. Boyd and Brooklyn Closson all had two hits. Rylie Van Aken’s sacrifice fly in the third inning accounted for the Cardinals only run.
Coldwater finished 6-6 in the Interstate 8, good for fourth in the final league standings. They have a overall record of 11-19.
