COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The City of Coldwater announced on Friday it’s been recognized with a gold status as part of the city’s participation in the Michigan Green Communities Challenge.
Coldwater was one of 36 communities which achieved a gold status for their work across multiple categories.
According to a news release issued by the city, some of the initiatives that led to the gold status included the installation of energy efficient lighting, providing free traditional recycling pickup, having annual household hazardous waste drop-offs, providing a site for the local farmer’s market to enhance access to local food sources as well as the installation of public EV charging stations.
The Michigan Green Communities program is open to all local governments in Michigan. More details about this program can be found on their website which is www.migreencommunities.com
Green?! It just helped a developer change a federal wetlands designation so it could fill in and build a complex in a wooded area along a river. How many trees did it cut down running the electricity to Clemens? It didn’t need to clear cut them all but it did. Speaking of Clemens, how green is that slaughterhouse the city recruited? The only green around here is in the pocket of those at the top!
