COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – It may not be a total eclipse of the sun, but the sky will darken shortly before 2:30 p.m. Monday afternoon in Branch County as the moon will block about 82 percent of the sun.
Those who want to get a glipse of the eclipse are being urged to use the correct eclipse glasses to prevent permanent eye damage.
The Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency says make sure the eclipse glasses have the international standard ISO 12312-12. Make sure the manufacturers name and address are printed on the product and be sure they are less than three years old.
In addition, do not use homemade filters.
You can also use the old school method of viewing the eclipse by using two pieces of cardboard. Poke a hole through one piece of cardboard and project the light onto the second piece.
