JACKSON, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater traveled to the Arbor Hills Golf Course in Jackson on Friday to participate in the 36th Annual Western Invitational. Coldwater finished in 4th place shooting a team score of 384. Lumen Christi won the event with a score of 350.
Coldwater was led by Claire Sheppard with a 92 which was good enough for 10th place overall. Hunter Jenkot carded a 93, Jayla Goodwin had a 94 and Kelly Warner and Micki Slack rounded out Coldwater’s scoring with each having scores of 105.
Coldwater’s varsity will travel to Tecumseh to play in the Tecumseh Invitational on Monday, and the Coldwater JV team will host a Jamboree at the Coldwater Golf Course on Monday as well.

Coldwater’s freshman volleyball team went 1-1 at the Comstock Invitational, losing to Wayland in the title match. Leading the team were Jenna Julien, with 8 kills and 10 blocks, and Madison Beckhusen, with 11 assists, 7 digs, and 19 aces.

The Indiana high school football season kicked off yesterday, and in a score of interest, Pioneer defeated Lewis Cass 30-0. The Cass Kings will make the 2-1/4 hour road trip from Walton (between Kokomo and Logansport) next Friday to play at Coldwater’s 2017 season opener.
On today’s schedule, Coldwater, Quincy, and Union City begin their volleyball seasons at the Battle Creek YMCA for the Carrie Adams Memorial Invitational, while Bronson hosts an invitational with Homer, Centreville, Niles, and North Adams-Jerome. In boys soccer, Coldwater kicks off its season at the Portage Soccer Center, facing Plainwell and Paw Paw in the Justin Bailey Shootout. And in cross country, Bronson and Union City run at the Colon Invitational.
