COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The suspect in Wednesday’s police pursuit and two resulting traffic accidents on Coldwater’s east side was arraigned yesterday in Branch County District Court.
31-year old Larry Foster, Jr. of Muncie, Indiana was charged with carjacking, 3rd degree fleeing and eluding, and assaulting a police officer while obstructing and resisting arrest. His bond was set at $200,000.
Michigan State Police pursued Foster’s car on northbound I-69 and the chase continued as his Honda Accord exited onto US 12 at Coldwater. According to troopers, the suspect headed east on 12 and struck a vehicle making a turn, and that caused the Accord to leave the road, going into a ditch, where they say Foster jumped out from behind the wheel with the engine running and the car still in gear.
Police report Foster tried but failed twice to steal cars from a couple of nearby business parking lots before being arrested.
Foster’s next court date for a probable cause hearing is August 24, 2017.
