COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Coldwater man is free on bond following his arrest this week after being named as a suspect in a criminal sexual conduct case involving an alleged victim who is a minor female. 21-year old Brandon Carr was taken into custody by Michigan State Police Monday night at his residence on West Pearl Street.
A Branch County Jail Corrections Officer said the arrest warrant indicated the alleged crime occurred in the City of Coldwater sometime between April 1and July 1, 2017. The warrant also accused Carr of having sexual intercourse with a girl between the age of 13 and 16.
Carr was arraigned yesterday in Branch County District Court on a charge of 3rd degree criminal sexual conduct. He was released from the jail last night after posting a $50,000 cash or surety bond. Carr’s next court date is August 22, 2017.
There was no information available on why Michigan State Police are handling the case after the alleged crime happened in the City of Coldwater.
