Lucy Emma Shaneyfelt, 77, of Sherwood, formerly Union City, passed away Saturday, June 8, 2024 at home in the care of her daughter and Elara Hospice.
Cremation has taken place and Lucy will be privately interred at Fort Custer National Cemetery, with her husband John Shaneyfelt, Sr.
Lucy was born July 25, 1946, in Portland, Indiana to Archie and Sarah (Ireland) Ervine. Lucy married John Shaneyfelt on July 6, 1967. They lived in Redkey, Indiana until they moved to Union City in 1983. They were married for 54 years, before John’s passing in 2022.
Lucy worked as a cashier at several gas stations, but the position she loved most was homemaker. Her family always came first. If she wasn’t cooking or taking part in her family’s activities, you could find Lucy enjoying a book, or watching her favorite western shows, Blue Bloods, The Price is Right, and Let’s Make a Deal.
Lucy is survived by: her children, Melissa (Dave Cook) Coyle of Sherwood, Jefferey Shaneyfelt of Sherwood, and John (Sheri Fetter) Shaneyfelt, Jr. of Colon; her grandchild, Dennis Shaneyfelt of Union City; her honorary grandchildren, Catherine and Alex Wetzel; and many brothers and sisters.
In addition to her husband, Lucy is preceded by her parents, and several brothers and sisters.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation, P.O. Box 161, Union City, MI 49094, to assist with final expenses.
