COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A plea agreement has been reached in the case of a Indiana man who was charged in connection with a August 2023 stabbing incident on Coldwater’s east side.
39-year-old Adam Wallis of Marion, Indiana entered a no contest plea on Monday in Branch County Circuit Court to a charge of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder.
An habitual offender sentencing enhancer is being dropped by prosecutors in exchange for the plea.
A sentencing hearing has been scheduled for July 29. The case had been scheduled to go to a Circuit Court jury trial three times before Monday’s plea hearing.
According to Coldwater Police, the stabbing took place during a fight at U.S. 12 and I-69 following a road rage incident involving two vehicles.
The man who was stabbed was treated for his injuries at ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital.
O’Grady will tell him to write “I will not stab that man again” 1,000 times and if he completes it in the first month his record will be expunged, or something close to that.
At this rate road rage will soon end up being a minor offence. It’s a reflection of our society today. No courtesy or respect for other drivers. Its all about me and me only. Stay safe my friends and watch that rearview mirror.
