UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – Union City School Superintendent Chris Katz says the Alumni Field renovation project is close to the end.
A post on the Union City Community Schools Facebook page said the fencing has been completed and as Katz told the Union City School Board on Monday night, asphalt patching should take place early next week.
In addition, work on the bathrooms is almost done.
While the railings and a few other aluminum pieces won’t be in until the middle of July, Katz says the Alumni Field seating area will be open for the July 3 fireworks.
The Union City Chargers Booster Club donated $26,000 towards the updating of the press box. Volunteers will be making improvement to the press box, the bathrooms and the concession stand.
Katz says they plan to have a grand reopening and dedication ceremony at the first varsity home football game on September 6.
