BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Redbirds 14U baseball team and Bronson 8th played to a 5-5 tie in the first game of a doubleheader on Wednesday night before Coldwater won the nightcap 7-4.
Bronson rallied from a 5-1 deficit in the first game to gain the tie.
Coldwater pitcher Matthew Hurley struck out 10 batters over five innings.
Payton Gundrum and Luke Stout each collected two hits and two RBI’s for Coldwater. Will Knowlan stole two bases.
Coldwater won the second game thanks to a three run fourth inning which snapped a 4-4 tie.
Stout collected three hits in three at bats. Luke Barnes and Logan Turner each drove in a run for Coldwater.
Knowlan was the winning pitcher thanks to seven strikeouts in four innings of work. He also went two-for-three at the plate.
