COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County Commissioners voted on Thursday to bring forward to next week’s regular meeting a request from the Sheriff’s Department to sell several items including a 12 year old animal control truck and a patrol boat.
Undersheriff Keith Eichler says they are proposing to sell the items on their own at first. If unsuccessful, they will attempt to auction them off.
Eichler and Sheriff John Pollack told Commissioners the 21 foot Wellcraft patrol boat was to big for the department.
The Sheriff’s Department is also hoping to sell 47 phones after a new phone system was recently installed as well as two caps from animal control.
Meanwhile, work on the new County Animal Control shelter is entering its final stages. County Administrator Bud Norman anticipates a ribbon cutting ceremony will take place in either late September of early October.
