Boil water advisory issued for a number of homes in Bronson

BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – Due to a drop in pressure in a section of the water distribution system, the City of Bronson has issued a boil water advisory effective
immediately for a number of homes. The areas affected include:

• All of South Douglas Street

• South Walker Street (100 & 200 block) between Compton Street and US-12

• Compton Street (200 block) between South Walker Street and South Douglas Street,

• West Chicago Street at the following addresses: 139, 215, 245, and 307 West Chicago Street.

• West Corey at the following addresses: 139 & 140 West Corey

City officials says because of the drop in pressure in that area, bacteria contamination may have occurred in the water system. They say bacteria are generally not harmful and are common throughout the environment.

Residents in the affected area are advised to bring all water to a boil, let it boil for one minute, and let it cool before using, or use bottled water. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and preparing food until further notice.

The City of Bronson Department of Public Works is working to get pressure restored, and water staff will be taking other remedial actions such as flushing and collecting bacteriological samples from around the system. The samples will be collected to determine that the water quality meets the state drinking water standards.
