ANGOLA, IN (WTVB) – Trine University is looking for a new President after the Board of Trustees announced last Thursday they had accepted the resignation of Dr. John Shannon who had served as university president since June 1, 2023.
No reason was given for Shannon’s departure but in a statement issued by the university, Board Chair Doctor Rick L. James extended the “appreciation of the Board and the University at large for Dr. Shannon’s deep commitment to Trine University, and we wish him and his family the best in the years ahead. He has fostered a culture of academic excellence in his years with Trine as President and formerly as Vice President of Academic Affairs.”
Shannon first came to Trine in 2007. He was serving as Trine Provost and Senior Vice President before being named the 17th president of the university.
Current Trine chancellor and former president Doctor Earl D. Brooks II will serve as university president while the board plans what is called a comprehensive, nationwide search for a permanent president.
It is expected that the new president will be selected within the next 12 months.
