FREMONT, IN (WTVB) – A rural Fremont, Indiana man who was reported missing to the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office by family and friends on July 20th was found deceased last Friday after he was the apparent victim of an electrocution.
35 year old Derrick E. Church was reported missing when no one was able to locate or get in touch with him. He was last seen walking to his residence in the 3800 block of East Peachy Road from a neighbor’s house.
Sheriff’s deputies were called back last Friday night to the Peachy Road residence on a report that someone found a possibly deceased human body.
When deputies arrived, they found human remains under the modular type residence. Sheriff’s detectives determined that Church was apparently electrocuted after he had crawled under the residence with a live electrical wire to possibly make repairs to the home.
There was no indication foul play was involved according to the Sheriff’s Office. They were assisted at the scene by the Fremont Police Department, the Fremont Fire Department, the Indiana State Police, the Steuben County Coroner’s Office, and Steuben County REMC.
