COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – At the May Women Who Care of Branch County meeting, the group voted to give funds from the meeting to the Branch County Fair for The Grandest Drive.
The amount donated at the one-hour meeting was $9,200 putting the group at 92 members and a total donation to the community of over $383,250 since its inception in 2014.
The Grandest Drive strengthens community connection by pairing Branch County Fair exhibitors and community members with special needs for a shared learning experience surrounding the care and showmanship of livestock projects during the fair.
Women Who Care of Branch County is an alliance of busy women who want to make a difference, therefore, commit a small amount of time (four, one-hour meetings per year) and resources ($100 four times per year) to streamline fundraising for local 501(c)3 charities and organizations. Meetings occur once per quarter at ProMedica Coldwater Conference Room. At each meeting three local charities/organizations present with time for questions. After they have spoken, the members vote on who should get the money raised that evening and then write their $100 check directly to the winning charity.
Members are also not required to attend meetings and can simply give the $100 donation quarterly to be a member and have the option to give online. If you are a member and haven’t made a donation yet, please do so by dropping off a check to Marie Wilber at Nichols Accounting in Coldwater or making your payment online through the Grapevine app.
Hors d’oeuvres for the meetings were generously donated by the Branch County Community Foundation.
The next Women Who Care meeting will be held August 21.
