COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners heard a pair of requests for the 18-year allocation of opioid settlement funds during last Thursday’s work session.
Sue Germann from Pines Behavioral Health requested $6-point-5 million. She said there were different types of drugs that are available in the county and that they want to concentrate on addictions in general.
She pointed out the county doesn’t have a treatment facility available.
Chris Dewey, representing 2-1-1, asked Commissioners to consider allocating $15,000 annually over the 18 years with an additional $1,000 during the first year.
The 2-1-1 service is free to use, confidential and accessible around the clock.
Local resources and services include access to food, childcare; elder care and family assistance; disaster assistance; stable housing assistance; and access to substance abuse services.
