COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – On a 7-1 vote, the Coldwater City Council adopted a Electric Vehicle Charging Demand Rate ordinance for commercial customers on Monday night.
It had been approved by the Coldwater B.P.U. Board of Directors after staff worked with CBPU consultant, Utility Financial Solutions.
B.P.U. Director Paul Jakubczak said during the July 8 City Council meeting they did not have electric vehicle rates for commercial customers.
The rate would be available to any customer who wants primary or secondary voltage service at Level 2 or 3 charging stations where the billing demand is at least 100 kilowatts.
Council member Jim Knaack cast the only no vote on Monday. He raised several questions during the July 8 meeting.
Following Monday’s Council approval, the proposed rate ordinance will take effect September 1, 2024.
