BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Tired of gas prices near $4 a gallon in Coldwater? It might be worth the drive to find considerably cheaper gas prices in some nearby communities.
Severe weather that knocked out power to a refinery outside Chicago almost two weeks ago impacted gas supplies in Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana and caused prices to sky rocket to as high as $3.99 a gallon in Coldwater.
Prices at several Coldwater stations on Friday were still hovering around $3.95.
According to www.gasbuddy.com, one station in Angola was selling gas for $3.52 while it was $3.54 in Fremont.
Gas at a Reading station was $3.59 while to the west, a station in Colon was selling gas for $3.39.
Gas Buddy’s Patrick DeHaan said on his blog this past Wednesday, “We’ve often said how critical refineries are, and with a long power outage, we’re seeing the impact very quickly, but relief will eventually arrive. For now, as we approach the end of summer vacations, I’m hopeful gas prices will continue to edge slightly lower in the week ahead.”
Coldwater gas stations have been price gouging us for many years because we consumers let them get by with it. Time to boycott these gas stations and drive them out of business if necessary. They don’t respect our business and they are all working together to keep the prices high with little or no push back!
