COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater split their two games on Friday at the Mickey Mantle baseball regional tournament which put them in the Silver Bracket for the final day of the tournament on Saturday. They defeated the Incredibles 16-15 before losing to Michigan College Connection 8-3.
Jaxon Janusz had two hits and scored three runs against the Incredibles. Breyden Cook also had two hits. Michael Kubel and Shane Spieth both scored three runs.
Coldwater and Michigan College Connect were tied 3-3 entering the seventh but College Connect used a five run seventh to win the game. Coldwater got all their runs in the fifth on a fielders choice by Speith, an RBI single by Aiden Peterson and a wild pitch.
Spieth had two hits against College Connect to lead the Redbird offense.
With their 1-2 record in the round robin, Coldwater will be in the Silver Bracket on Saturday. They will play Ottawa, Illinois at 1:15pm at Borden Field. If Coldwater wins, they will play for the Silver Bracket title at 3:00pm at Borden Field.
The winner of the Gold Bracket will advance to Waterbury, Connecticut. The Homer Trojans will face Niles, Illinois at Borden Field at 11:00 a.m. while Flint Grossi will play Michigan College Connect at the same time at Lowe Field. The tournament championship game will be at Lowe Field starting at 3:00 p.m.
