COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – After falling behind 9-0, a rally by the Coldwater Redbirds fell short Thursday night as they were beaten by Niles, Illinois 13-7 in the opening round of the Mickey Mantle Regional Baseball Tournament at Lowe Field.
Michael Kubel and Austin Robey both had RBI doubles while Jaxon Janusz added a two run single. Breyden Cook added a single and scored a run while Alex Everett had a double.
The second and third rounds of the round robin portion of the tournament will take place on Friday. Coldwater will face the Incredibles at 2:30 p.m.at Borden Field and Michigan College Connect at Lowe Field at 7:00 p.m.
The semifinals and finals will be held on Saturday with the title game at Lowe Field starting at 3:30 p.m.
