COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Work crews put a new cross on top of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Coldwater this week.
Mike Pridgeon is the chair of the church’s Capital Projects Committee. He said the new five foot tall cross is made out of aluminum and was made locally by Case Welding. Lightning protection was provided by C.E.M Supply.
Workers earlier removed a decorative white steeple above the historic bell tower after it was determined it was in poor shape.
A consultant estimated the repairs would cost $60,000.
The original St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Coldwater was established in 1848. The current church on East Chicago Street opened in 1880.
