READING, MI (WTVB) – A Reading man died Monday night from injuries he suffered earlier in the day in a Hillsdale County traffic accident.
The Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Department says 34-year-old Matthew Earle Depew was traveling on Bankers Road just east of Abbott Road at about 4:00 p.m. Monday afternoon when his car lost control, went off the road and struck a tree.
After the vehicle struck the tree it rotated away and came to rest in the front yard of a nearby home.
Depew was treated at the scene by EMS personnel from the Reading Emergency Unit and then air lifted by Life Flight to The Fulton County Health Center where he was later pronounced dead.
Deputies were assisted by members of the Reading, Montgomery and Allen Fire Departments. The crash remains under investigation.
