KINDERHOOK TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – Two Angola, Indiana residents were taken to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne on Thursday morning after they were injured in a rollover crash on South Angola Road (Old U.S. 27) near Kope Kon Road.
The crash, which was reported at about 7:30 a.m., is being investigated by the Branch County Sheriff’s Department.
They say 44-year-old Morris E. Butler and a 14-year-old female passenger were in a northbound pickup truck when it crossed the centerline and nearly missed a southbound vehicle.
It then struck a guardrail and went into a ditch. The vehicle flipped on its top after it struck an embankment of a creek.
The jaws of life were used to free the occupants of the vehicle.
Butler was taken by ambulance to the Fort Wayne hospital while the 14-year-old was flown out.
Numerous police and firefighters were dispatched to the crash scene.
Deputies were assisted by the Lakeland and Fremont Fire Departments, the Michigan State Police, Life Care and Reading Ambulances, Life Flight helicopter, Bills towing of Fremont Indiana and the Branch County Road Commission.
A portion of Old U.S. 27 between Southern Road and the state line was closed until almost 10:30 a.m..
