COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In preparation for the new fiscal year that starts July 1, 2017, the Coldwater Board of Education adopted the district’s 2017-2018 budget Thursday night.
The new budget is in the black, and as Coldwater School Superintendent Terry Boguth pointed out during the Board’s meeting in May, the spending plan for the upcoming school year will allow the district to add staff members.
The exact number of new teachers has not been determined yet, but Boguth said in May they were looking to add two English as a Second Language positions.
Other staff additions were planned for Legg Middle School as well as at Jefferson Elementary.
The district’s projected fund balance is $23.2 million. Unlike other districts, the Coldwater district will not have to borrow money over the summer.
