JACKSON, MI (WTVB) – The Jackson Post of the Michigan State Police, along with some Hillsdale County police agencies, will be taking part in the nationwide Angel Program in an attempt to assist people struggling with addiction and reduce drug demand.
Almost 200 police departments around the country take part in the program which allows someone with a drug addiction to walk into a state police post or partnering agency during administrative hours and seek help for their addiction, without the fear of arrest or investigation.
The Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Department along with police in Jonesville and Hillsdale will be part of the program.
Participants must not have active warrants, pending court action, or be a registered sex offender. The participants must also arrive to the post or law enforcement agency voluntarily for treatment.
