BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – Work began this week on the final phase for the Memorial Park Improvement Project in downtown Bronson.
It’s hoped the work will be done by the time the 48th annual Polish Festival starts on July 20th.
A ribbon cutting ceremony is expected to take place sometime during the Polish Festival.
A Crowdfunding project was announced last winter for the final phase of work which involved the creation of a water feature as well as landscaping and irrigation improvements. Nearly $21,000 was raised which far surpassed the goal of $12,500.
That was good enough for Bronson to get a matching grant from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation’s Public Spaces Community Places program.
The City is redeveloping the park in honor of longtime Mayor Thomas Rissman. The first two phases involved the relocation of the gazebo and the installation of a brick paved walk way.
