QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – The Quincy Joint Planning Commission will begin review of the state statutes that impact medical marihuana operations on Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the Quincy Village Hall.
Officials say this will be the first of at least two public meetings that the Commission will hold to consider whether or not to allow these operations in the Township and/or the Village.
The Quincy Township Board and the Quincy Village Council will eventually have to act after getting a recommendation from the J.P.C. which consists of seven persons from the village and township.
The meetings are being held after the State adopted laws regulating the use of medical marihuana late last year.
The village staff is in the process of developing a survey to help the various boards as this issue is considered. A link is expected be posted before July 4 on the village’s web site.
Michigan’s brand new Medical Marijuana Licensing Board met for the first time on Monday in Lansing. They took public comment and then adjourned. The board only has until mid-December to draft all the regulations needed.
