COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Sheriff’s Department will co-host an animal crimes training class with the Humane Society of the United States on Friday.
Deputies from the Sheriff’s Department and other law enforcement agencies will be taking part an animal crimes investigation course which is designed to prevent animal cruelty.
Branch County Sheriff John Pollack says, “there are definite gaps in animal investigations in Michigan and I want to ensure my office takes the steps necessary to do our jobs well. Through this collaboration with the Humane Society, we will be better equipped to help the animals in our community.”
According to the Sheriff’s Department, research has shown a strong link between animal cruelty and human violence, making responses to animal cruelty complaints even more crucial for communities.
