COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners approved a Recruiting and Retention Initiative amendment Tuesday which involves increased wages for union, non-union, non-union management county employees and elected officials.
A half dozen unions were mentioned in a motion for approval that was made by Commissioner Terri Norris.
Those unions were GELC-General, SEIU-General, SEIU-Probate, SEIU-Circuit, SEIU-District, UAW-Supervisors and the Police Officers Association of Michigan.
The 911 dispatchers who belong to the P.O.A.M. and the Corrections Officers Association of Michigan had already agreed to an adjusted pay scale.
Norris said the amendment was effective this Saturday and will run through the end of 2019.
The County Commissioners were not included in the motion that was approved Tuesday.
The action was seen as a way by the county to retain more employees.
