ANGOLA, IN (WTVB) – Extra precautions were taken on Friday after the Angola Police Department said they were contacted by the FBI about a vague threat that was possibly made against an Angola school.
The police department later issued a statement which said the threat was determined to be not credible after a person of interest was taken into custody before the start of school and interviewed. They said no weapons were found.
While classes were held on Friday in the Metropolitan School District of Steuben County, Angola Police provided extra security as officers walked through the school buildings out of an abundance of caution.
Fremont Community Schools said on their Facebook page no threat was made towards their district but they were looking into if this social media post was shared to any of their students.
The M.S.D. of Steuben County posted on Facebook, “School is in session as normal with additional security and police presence added in an abundance of caution. Again the safety and wellbeing of our students and staff is of the utmost importance.”
