Everett “Ray” Smith, 81, of Tekonsha, passed away Thursday, September 5, 2024 at his home.
A memorial graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 13, 2024 at Riverside Cemetery in Tekonsha.
The family is being served by Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation in Union City.
Ray was born to Eli and Sally (Sparks) Smith in Upper Sandusky, Ohio. He grew up in Kentucky but lived most of his life in Tekonsha. Ray worked at Leer Manufacturing in Marshall for 25 years as a foreman. He married Dororthy Gifford in 2005 in Albion, Michigan.
Ray enjoyed tinkering , farming, raising cattle and hogs, cutting wood ,country music, hunting, fishing, and giving people a hard time.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Gifford of Tekonsha,; his children, Anita Weller of Harrison, Joyce (Scott) Alwood of Burlington, Kevin Smith of Michigan, Junior (Mary Jane) Smith of Union City, James Smith of Tennessee,; his step children Bruce (Penny) Gifford of Albion, Linette Gifford of Litchfield, Bobby Gifford of Tekonsha; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his siblings, Kathleen Wills of Marshall, Sandra (Ken) Maisner of Tekonsha, Bill (Kathy) Smith of Ceresco, Tim (Jackie) Smith of Tekonsha, Sally (Don) Dingee of Marshall, Patty (Tom O’Dell) Smith of Tekonsha; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Fay Smith and Jane Grigsby, and a brother, Eli Junior Smith.
