ALLENDALE, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater’s Cameron Ruge fired a second round 80 at the MHSAA Division Two Boys Golf Lower Peninsula Finals on Saturday to finish with a two day total of 161.
Ruge’s score at the Meadows on the campus of Grand Valley State University left him seven shots out of the top ten in the final individual standings. His performance in the finals capped off the 2016-2017 high school sports season in Branch County.

Homer will face Schoolcraft in the MHSAA Baseball Division Three quarterfinals on Tuesday. The Trojans won the Napoleon Regionals with a 7-6 win over Michigan Center while Schoolcraft defeated Buchanan 4-2 in the Coloma Regional Finals.
Another Big 8 Conference team made it to the Division Four Regional Finals at Hudson but Concord lost to the host Hudson Tigers in the finals 12-9. Concord advanced to the finals with a 5-4 win over Colon.
Centreville defeated Decatur 6-3 but they lost to St. Joseph Lake Michigan 5-3 in the finals of the Division 4 Baseball regionals at Decatur.
In the girls softball regionals, Interstate 8 champion Parma Western was eliminated in the Division Two Eaton Rapids regional final by Flint Powers 8-4.
Jonesville lost in the Division Three Napoleon regional semifinals to Saranac 4-0.
Centreville lost to host Decatur 1-0 in the Division Four regional semifinals.
Mendon won the D4 Regional title at Hudson as they defeated Camden-Frontier 13-3. Camden-Frontier advanced to the finals with a 5-4 win over Hudson while Mendon defeated North Adams-Jerome 6-2 in the semifinals.
