COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A request to fill a soon-to-be vacant position in Probate Court was brought forward Thursday during the Branch County Board of Commissioners work session.
Probate Judge Kirk Kashian submitted the request to fill a Deputy Register position that will be vacant on January 1 due to the upcoming retirement of Karen Martin.
Juvenile Court Administrator Wendy Gensch says it’s a full time union position with a starting wage of $15.11 an hour with benefits.
The position will be posted as soon as possible.
In other business, the Commissioners also brought forward to Tuesday’s meeting a request to hire a contracted part-time audit assistant at a rate not to exceed $12,882.64 per year.
Administrator Bud Norman said it was discussed during the Commissioners work session two weeks ago at the suggestion of the auditor. He wanted to try it for a year to see if it will work.
The funds for the contracted position would come from the microfilm clerk position that was not filled.
The Commissioners are scheduled to take formal action on both requests during their Tuesday afternoon meeting.
