CENTREVILLE, MI (WTVB) – The St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office released new information on Monday as they continue to investigate leads in the missing persons case of Brittany Shank, who was last seen on November 30, 2018.
Shank, who also went by the name Brittany Wallace, was 23-years-old at the time she went missing in the 33000 Block of Fawn River Road in Sturgis.
According to a flyer that was distributed a year after she disappeared, Shank ran off the road in thick fog and walked from door to door confused.
The Sheriff’s Department released a tape of a 911 call on Monday containing the last recorded contact with Shank. The call was recorded on the night of her reported disappearance at 8:51 p.m..
She had come up to a man’s door without shoes or a coat, bleeding from her feet and arms, and he called 9-1-1 to try to get her help. Shank, however, wouldn’t talk to him when he was making the call, went back outside, and was not seen again.
A sketch of the person who is last known to have been with her was also released.
Undersheriff Jason Bingaman said, “We are fully committed to this case and remain dedicated to finding the resolution.”

The Sheriff’s Office has collaborated with the Michigan State Police and has partnered with the Western Michigan University Cold Case Program. Dozens of searches using both traditional and non-traditional investigative techniques have been organized.
The Sheriff’s Department says they encountered several challenges including individuals withholding or providing incorrect/incomplete statements and some witnesses have passed away.
Shank was not wearing a coat or shoes at the time. It was possible she was with an unidentified man who was said to be in his mid-20’s with an average build. He was also said to have short blonde hair with mutton-chop sideburns.
Shank was just over five-feet-tall who weighed 110 pounds with dyed red hair that was shaved on the sides and hazel eyes.
